The Future of Online Advertising

Submitted by Paul Rushing on Tuesday, November 6, 2007One Comment

Online advertising is taking a turn for the better in a not so new way. The chance of car dealers embracing it in the near term are probably nil, however fortunately for the dealers the manufactures are starting to embrace it. Dealers that spend thousands of dollars monthly on Television Advertising may be the first to jump on the bandwagon, but at the cost it is relatively inexpensive for even small dealers with limited budgets to break into the market.

Google is now offering video plays in its Adwords/Adsense platforms. This will be an inexpensive way to facilitate market area saturation with a branding message. While this is not the only platform that a message like this can be delivered it seems to be the most cost effective right now.

Here is an example that Ford Motor Company is various auto manufactures are doing tied in with a very funny comedy piece.

It will be interesting to see the difference in conversion ratios from these video based ads vs. textual based ads. Have you seen any data regarding this?

Integrating video ads across Google’s AdSense Network seems like a no brainer for dealerships looking to generate more exposure and create ‘buzz’ about their promotions.

In order to really optimize your brand online, I suggest that every dealership register a YouTube Channel with their dealership’s name and start posting all their video content as soon as possible. Not only will your commercials reach a whole new audience online, but you will also have a great way to track what commercials are being viewed online to determine what works for your next campaign.
