Some developers have gone to great lengths to set these up and they are basically untapped.
Is it that people are too lazy to bother with it or maybe they just don't see the benefits of participating.
Either way, they are the ones that will end up on the losing end.

I do believe there is a very decent automotive social network at mechanarchist.com. I have been a member for 2 weeks and have been able to do more with 14 days than 2 years on facebo_k. Check it out before we all think all is lost.

I don't know if they are failing miserably, but I do know that they are taking off very slowly.

They are a good idea, but need to stay aimed in the right direction, they need to be more all inclusive, rather then just aimed at a couple of automotive sectors.

There are a lot of areas of the industry that just have no place to go, and I have dealt in the automotive industry most of my life.

Most of the industry is looking for good solutions to help their businesses, and will try most things at least one time, if the cost doesn't prohibit it.

I personally have tried a lot of ways to promote my business online, and I'm always in experimental mode.

Looks like it's been a while since this post. I would like to invite you to check out www.hubgarage.com founded about 12 months ago. The site is focused primarily on the automotive aftermarket and people who customize or restore classic cars. In a short amount of time, the site has grown to 25,000 members, 80,000 unique monthly viewers and 4.5 million page views per month. Also, more than 500 auto companies are members. I would be interested in getting your feedback. Thanks!

Let me start by saying, I have been enjoying your blog for quite sometime now. Please keep up the great work!

I wouldn't say the social networks are failing miserably, but maybe they are still in the infancy stages of beginning to bloom.

I spoke with several different people at NADA this year that were quite upset with all the moderation on the iMagic Lab Network. They have been policing it so much they have pushed alot of users to stop using it.

Also, not sure if you have seen my blog yet... When you get a chance check it out: http://www.dealerrevenue.com
